Overview

Social Security Advocates for the Disabled (SSAD) is an nationwide advocacy organization dedicated to helping individuals apply for and obtain Social Security Disability Insurance. Our mission is to expedite the benefit claims process for our clients and to help to preserve and improve their financial well-being. SSAD's On Site Liaison performs a variety of client-centric services and operational activities involving both Social Security Disability advocacy and overpayment recovery for our customer.  This role is located in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the daily operational relationship with specific LTD customer, acting as a key conduit between SSAD and customer, in an on-site, customer-interfacing role.
  • Reviews claims for Social Security Disability viability and pursuit, referring appropriate claims to SSAD for advocacy assistance. Updates LTD Carrier Partner and SSAD databases as required throughout process.
  • Assists in initiating calls to potential claimants utilizing a customized and supportive approach to promote the benefits of retaining SSAD. Drives the communication process to ensure favorable results and credibility of SSAD.
  • Obtains and analyzes financial information to identify and establish effective benefit integration and initiates overpayment recovery efforts. Calculates claim benefits, overpayments and underpayments based on claim procedures, product design, contract provisions and applicable state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Organizes and effectively manages assigned claims to achieve production goals in close collaboration with team members. Identifies and proactively communicates with Management relative to any issue that may impede effective program processes.
  • Proactively corresponds directly with claimants, family members, appointed representatives, attorneys or other interested parties, to maximize overpayment recovery rate and ensure timely results, assesses the claim to determine best course of action seeking guidance/direction as needed.
  • Prepares accurate and timely entries, posting all necessary data points to database to ensure accurate financial and workload reporting is produced.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus 4-6 years work experience, preferably with group disability claims
  • Bachelors Degree, industry courses, and/or prior collection experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral/written communication.
  • Must be an effective problem solver, possess good decision-making skills, and be an effective team player.
  • Must be able to maintain good public relations with internal and external customers.
  • Strong math, contract interpretation and MS Office skills required.
  • Must be able to maintain high degree of accuracy, pay strict attention to detail, and manage a large volume of work in progress.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work independently.
